
The Shinbundang Line (Red) is a premium express line from Sinsa in northern Gangnam to Pangyo and Gwanggyo — the fastest way between Gangnam, Apgujeong Rodeo, and south-of-the-river destinations.
The Shinbundang Line (신분당선, Red) is a privately operated premium express line running from Sinsa in northern Gangnam down to Gwanggyo in Suwon, passing through Pangyo (Korea's Silicon Valley). Unlike other Seoul subway lines, Shinbundang trains are fully driverless and noticeably faster — and it charges a higher fare. It's the go-to line for business travelers and shoppers heading to Apgujeong Rodeo or Pangyo's tech campus area.
Shinbundang adds a surcharge on top of the standard subway fare:

Transfer to Line 3. Exit 6 for Garosu-gil, the tree-lined boutique street. The new terminus extended here in 2022, making Gangnam access from north-river neighborhoods easier.
Transfer to Line 7. Nonhyeon Food Street — a mid-range dining area favored by office workers.
Transfer to Line 9. Entry to Gangnam Finance Center and the northern end of Gangnam-daero.
Transfer to Line 2. THE Gangnam hub — exit to Gangnam-daero, office towers, and K-pop tourist spots.
Transfer to Line 3. aT Center events and convention venue.
Exit 2 for Cheonggyesan Mountain trailheads — a gentle hiking mountain popular with Seoul locals on weekends.
Transfer to Gyeonggang Line. Pangyo Techno Valley — Korea's Silicon Valley. Home to Kakao, Naver (HQ at Jeongja/Bundang line), and major Korean tech. Hyundai Department Store Pangyo is the largest in Korea.
Southern terminus. Suwon city, gateway to Suwon Hwaseong Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage) via a short bus transfer.
Tip: Don't confuse Apgujeong Rodeo Station (on Shinbundang's extension, still under construction as of 2026) with Apgujeong Station (Line 3). Line 3 Apgujeong is the currently active station — use that for the Gentle Monster flagship and SM Entertainment.
