Seoul Subway Line 9 Guide: Gimpo Airport, Yeouido, Express Gangnam

Seoul Subway Line 9 (Gold) is Seoul's only express subway — it operates both local (all stops) and express trains from Gimpo Airport to Jamsil Olympic Park. For tourists, the express cuts Gimpo-to-Gangnam travel time by 20 minutes versus the local.

Express stations: Gimpo Airport, Gimpo Airport International, Magongnaru, Gayang, Yeomchang, Dangsan, Yeouido, Noryangjin, Dongjak, Express Bus Terminal, Sinnonhyeon, Sports Complex, Olympic Park. Regular train stops at all 38 stations.

Must-Visit Stations

Gimpo Airport (김포공항, 902)

Transfer to Line 5, AREX, Gimpo Goldline. Exit 1 for domestic flights, Exit 2 for Lotte Mall Gimpo (discount shopping).

Yeouido (여의도, 914)

Transfer to Line 5. Exit 3 for IFC Mall; Exit 6 for Yeouido Park (cherry blossoms nearby); Exit 1 for Hyundai Department Store.

Dongjak (동작, 917) — National Cemetery

Exit 8 for Seoul National Cemetery (국립현충원) — a quiet place of remembrance with stunning spring cherry blossoms along the cemetery's main drive. Free admission.

Express Bus Terminal (고속터미널, 923)

Transfer to Lines 3, 7. Same as Line 7 — Goto Mall, Shinsegae Gangnam.

Sinnonhyeon (신논현, 925)

Exit 6 for COEX Aquarium direction via short walk to CGV cinema. Also buses to Gangnam-daero.

Sports Complex (종합운동장, 930)

Exit 2 for Seoul Olympic Stadium (1988 main stadium). Near Lotte World.

Olympic Park (올림픽공원, 934)

Exit 3 — same as Line 5 access, for Olympic Park.

• Express Bus Terminal: Lines 3, 7 — mega-hub

Tip: Express trains are marked in ORANGE on platform signs and trains — regular trains are blue. Express uses a separate platform at most stations. For Gangnam from Gimpo Airport, express saves ~20 minutes.
