Kyung-in Museum of Fine Art is more than just a gallery; it's a living piece of Seoul's history. Established in 1983, it consists of several traditional Korean houses (Hanok) that have been converted into exhibition spaces. The central garden is a masterpiece of landscape design, offering a peaceful escape from the bustling streets of Insadong.
Visitors often come not just for the rotating art exhibitions, but for the Traditional Tea House (Dawon) located within the premises. Sitting on the wooden porch of a Hanok while sipping on Omija-cha (five-flavor tea) or Ssanghwa-cha (herbal tea) provides a sensory journey back to old Korea. The museum frequently hosts solo and group exhibitions of contemporary Korean artists, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.
